Payton Rae Birth Story

Alright I hope you are ready for it.  It was a adventure and lots of things happened.  It started on Saturday morning July 7th.  I told Dustin that when he got home he needed to take me to the hospital because I was starting to have contractions and they were about 5 min apart.  We arrived at the hospital and they monitored me but I was not progressing so I was sent home.  I was pretty much put on bed rest because I was so swollen I was not really able to walk or do anything.  I was just very uncomfortable all weekend.  Dustin went to work Sunday night and as soon as he left I started to contract again and was having severe back pain.  I did not want to go to the hospital until I was sure I was in labor because I did not want to be sent home again.
I text Dustin to warn him what was going on at about 3 am.  He told me he was just writing reports and for me to just let him know.  I text him at 4:00 am, 4:15am with no response.  So finally I called him and told him I needed him home know and why was he not responding to my texts.  He was like I did not feel my phone and I was on a call and was in a fight with a guy.  I was like well can you come home we need to go to hospital my contractions are intense and very close together.  Dustin got home literally threw his clothes on the floor and gear and we went to hospital.
We arrived at the hospital about 5am Monday and were blessed that they were not busy and ended up having a triage nurse that is good friends with my best friend and also knows my sister in law.  Thankfully I was not sent home because I was 5cm.  I was admitted to a room and they called my doctor to have my water broken at about 10am,
My blood pressure had increased and I was put on Magnesium.  I had received my epidural as well.  They checked me and I was not progressing due to the Magnesium so they put me on petocin to speed up the labor.  It was a very challenging day as Dustin was on no sleep and he would sleep while I was comfortable with my epidural.  My epidural started to wear off which they think is due to mine and the baby's chemistry.  They took the first epidural out and gave me another one but still did not work.  I was feeling everything.  Finally my doctor came in around 9 or 10pm to check me and I was about 9cm but the lining was still not thinning.  All I recall is telling Dustin around 7pm when the epidurals were not working that I was done and I could not handle it anymore.
At about 10pm they decided I had progressed as far as I could and that the best choice at this point was for me to have a c-section.  So they turned my epidural off to get me ready for my c-section that started at 11:30pm.  Payton was born at 12:02 am on July 10th, 2012.  It was very emotional for Dustin and I to finally see our baby girl.  Definitely not the delivery we had anticipated but thankful that she was healthy.
Once moved into our room and my doctor came in she advised us that I had lost a lot of blood during the surgery and she recommended a blood transfusion to help bring my levels up and also to help with my recovery.  Dustin and I tossed around the idea and finally chose to continue with it.
Tuesday and Wednesday were very trying for me as I was very out of it and would be constantly dozing off.  We had numerous visitors and felt the love and support from our family and friends.  We were in the hospital for 5 days.  We came home on Friday.  One week later my incision became open and now we are dealing with this and have a nurse and my mom packing it.  It is really starting to heal and I am very thankful for this.
On a different note I have to say that we have the most perfect baby.  Payton sleeps and eats great.  She sleeps from 4-6 hour stretches at night.  We are so blessed and thankful for our baby girl.  She is changing so much.
